History
Mr. Stanley G. Reynolds is a successful local businessman who inherited a love of collecting from his father. Some of his collection came to him as trade-ins at his car dealership, but most of it he searched out himself. He was very successful and soon  amassed a large collection of cars, trucks, agricultural equipment and much more. Mr. Reynolds wanted to preserve his collection for future generations and he approached the Government of Alberta with a proposal, he would donate a large portion of his collection to the province if the province would agree to build a facility to house it.
A committee of experts was appointed to review the thousands of artifacts in Mr. Reynolds' collection and choose those which best represented the museum's themes. The museum opened on September 12, 1992.
Reynolds-Alberta Museum is a project of Alberta Community Development and Alberta Infrastructure and is provincially owned and operated. It focuses on Alberta's mechanized history, with four themes being transportation, agriculture, aviation and industry. Many of our artifacts are quite rare and irreplaceable. We presently have more than 8000 artifacts in our collection. The main exhibit gallery contains only a sample; the rest are on the grounds or stored in our warehouse. Reynolds-Alberta Museum celebrates the spirit of the machine through lively interpretation of an outstanding collection of vehicles, aircraft, tractors and industrial machines. Our stories begin in the 1880s and tell how these amazing machines shaped the lives of ordinary and extraordinary people.
