Reynolds-Alberta Museum Wins International Museum Awards

The Life & Times of the Motorcycle exhibition from the Reynolds-Alberta Museum has received international attention, taking home two prestigious automobile museum awards.

  David Dusome, Manager of the Reynolds- Alberta Museum (pictured on the right) receives the NAAM Award from presenter George Barris, an internationally renowned car customizer and creator of vehicles such as the Batmobile, the MonkeeMobile and the Munster Car.  

For its Life & Times of the Motorcycle exhibition, the museum received an award of excellence under the category of Event and Public Promotions at the 2007 National Association of Automobile Museums (NAAM) annual conference, held March 21-24 at the Peterson Automotive Museum in Los Angeles, California.  The same exhibition was also awarded the Students Choice Award. 

The Life & Times of the Motorcycle exhibition, which ran from May 2005 to September 2006, explored Canadian motorcycling from 1900 to the present day.  More than 100,000 people attended the highly-praised exhibit, which featured 150 motorcycles, interpretive and educational programs, special events, and a multi-media promotional campaign.

The NAAM Awards are designed to recognize automotive/transportation museum leaders for achievement, professionalism and creativity and are presented annually at the NAAM Conference.  The Reynolds-Alberta Museum will host the 2009 NAAM Annual Conference and Awards.  This is the first time the event will be held in Canada and will attract delegates from across North America.

 

This outstanding exhibition also received a Bronze Premier's Award of Excellence.  Pictured receiving the Award from Premier Klein on October 3, 2006 are Cynthia Blackmore, Head - Marketing and Communications and Mike Parsons, Head - Special Projects.
